Malta finally succumbed to divorce law, leaving the Philippines as the only country without divorce. Christians stood their ground on barring the Divorce Law from passage.
We are obedient to God's precepts on preserving the sanctity of marriage and avoiding the disintegration of families, which could lead to a weak country.
God says in Matthew 10:6-9,11-12
At the beginning of creation God made them male and female; for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and the two will become as one. They are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore let no one separate what God has joined.
Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; and the woman who divorces her husband and marries another commits adultery.
