PALEGAS, Seven Deadly Sins

                    image from raokness.blogspot.com

PALEGAS is an acronym for the seven deadly sins: pride, anger, lust, envy, greed, avarice, sloth. It is deadly because it could lead one to another sin/s.

Pride
When one is overcome with pride, he would not listen to advise of the elders. And when confronted, resort to lying, a mortal sin.

Anger

Uncontrollable anger could lead to killing.

Lust

King David lusted for Bathsheba so he sent Uriah, Bathsheba's husband, to the fiercest part of he battle so that he would be killed. (2 Samuel 11:1-26)

So when King David succumbed to his lust, a mortal sin was committed, killing.

Envy

When I was a kid going to grade school, I was envious of my friends/schoolmates with their sumptuous lunch packs, their dresses, and their toys. We belonged to the type D income level at the time.  But with the counselling of my parents, I learned to appreciate what we had at the time.
Thank God, envy was curtailed at a young age.

Greed

When one is not contented with what he has, he resorts to notorious means like land grabbing, robbery. Greed is worldwide.  Only a few have the  ostentatious wealth, while the majority are living  on poverty or below.
Control by corporations is made on power, food, and other necessities of the people.

Avarice

Avarice is defined as extreme greed for wealth or material gain.
Big pharma companies fall into this category because of their propensity to take advantage of the sick. Coming out with medicine/gadgets not to cure but to be a regular source of profit.

In the Philippines there are mining companies who operate solely for huge profit regardless of the effect to the people and  the environment.

We have three senators who are incarcerated for allegedly pocketing  the development fund for their constituents.

We have the alleged mastermind whose daughter could spend a thousand dollars a day while most families have only two meals a day or they have to sleep off their dinner because of no food on the table.

Sloth

There are people whose passion is sleeping  and gossiping. A little work is a great amount of hardship for them.

Slothfulness could lead one to thievery, gambling, the easy money of drug peddling.

Jesus' return is imminent. Better repent and do the will of the Father or miss rapture and be left behind.

Be guided by the Bible Verses on Pride, Anger, Lust, Envy,, Greed, Avarice, and Sloth.
