Omayra Sanchez of Columbia

I was not aware of this news of the volcano eruption in Columbia which trapped this poor girl, Omayra Sanchez, for three days. I got this photo from Digg today and I would like to share it with you .

When I first saw it, not knowing the information about the picture, I was under the impression that she was munching a sugar cane, until I saw her wrinkled hands. You could see from her face that death was coming.

Rescue teams could not do anything to free her from the entrapment. To remove her, they would have to amputate her legs, but they had no specialist to do it. The girl weakened and eventually died.

It is so heartbreaking to see the face of death on this young girl. Why do we have to rely on our own strength. I have often mentioned in my blogs, not to rely alone on human strength, rely on God’s strength.

What they should have done was to call for God’s help. Nothing is impossible with God. He could move mountains.

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am wth you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
