Destroy doesn't mean to go into oblivion- no pain nor pleasure, but stay eternally to suffer in the lake of fire.
Some people question; why give us free will when the destination is destruction, making God seem like an unfair, a merciless God. He is faithful to His children who are obedient, doing His will. He is patient, slow to anger. But God has His wrath, His justice. Study the scriptures so that we do not get misled by the deception of Satan!
God is all powerful, nothing is impossible for Him, but He cannot force His creation to love Him.
Biologically we are the offspring of our parents, but creation started with Adam and Eve, where humanity all began.
We did not evolve from monkeys as Darwin said. Intelligent minds, the atheist, rationalize, that "we do not believe unless seen". Faith is believing first the Word of God before understanding it. We will see God when we cross the veil (when we physically die), if we have faith and follow His will!
