It is horrifying to note that impoverished people have to go to dumpsters in the hope of retrieving throw aways from groceries, restaurants,.
In the Philippines, we received food donations that rotted before it reached the hapless victims of the universally acknowledged strongest typhoon to ever hit a country, Yolanda. FOOD is perishable, it should have been out and given to the needy. No need to pass through the usual protocol.
In Metro Manila, street children and some poor elderly people are rummaging in thrash cans to assuage their hunger. though they are picked up if they are seen by the authorities and take them to the proper agencies of the government or to NGOs. The point is, 5% of the population belong to the over abundant and the extreme side of the coin are the impoverished, whose meal is once or twice a day or none at all. Is this the product of capitalism where the bottom line is huge profit? That goods nearing expiration are thrown away rather than distribute to the hungry, to control prices.
Some of our man-made laws are in opposition to God's doctrine. God wants us to share to the needy. In Hebrew 13:16,
And don't forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.
You might want to go to dumpsters to empathize with poor people.
