The Commonwealth Games Bridge Collapse

India is hosting the Commonwealth Games, an international sporting event which is supposed to begin on October 3. Problems are surrounding the event: the collapse of the pedestrian bridge connecting the park to the Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium, the condition of the living quarters for the athletes, alleged corruption. This reminded me of the construction of the Manila Film Center for the first Manila International Film Festival. The edifice is located in Pasay City.
Construction was started in in 1981, was pressed for time for January 18 to 19. 1982 film fest. Four thousand construction workers were hired

During the final stages of the construction, the scaffolding collapsed and 169 workers fell to the quick drying cement. For details, click here.
