Whenever we are sick which takes long period to heal, and could not attend the holy mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation, call the priest for anointing of the sick sacrament.
Most people are afraid to call a priest saying: "I AM NOT DYING YET."
The sacrament is meant to heal the sick physically and spiritually. This is also an opportunity to receive the body of Christ (communion), that is, after watching mass on TV.
The LAST RITES is another thing, when the priest is called for a dying person.(see Last Rites)
Good if there is an available priest.
Anointing of the sick sacrament will help us to be ready anytime that the Lord calls us. What is scary about dying is the uncertainty of where you are heading to, heaven or hell. We have to to be ready anytime!
