Radio Veritas family stories

Would you be able to handle this situation if you were in the shoes of Mon and Lina?

Lina and Mon, a couple in their 70’s, was interviewed at Radio Veritas, am band, a favorite radio station by the Catholics.

They met in their Legion of Mary (LOM) prayer meeting in their early 20’s. It was not love at first sight for Lina. In fact, she disliked Mon in the beginning because she was being put on the spot by his questions during their meeting, but she eventually fell for him.

Lina was supposed to enter a convent. Her parents were requesting her to postpone joining the convent because being the eldest of the siblings, she had to help the family. To make a decision, she had a novena to a saint, petitioning the saint to give her a sign, that if Mon is for her, to give her something yellow.

She was already in the later stages of her novena, and there was no sign yet. On her 8th day, after their (LOM) prayer meeting, somebody plucked some yellow flowers from the offering to Mama Mary, and it was given to her!

From a simple beginning in their marital life, they were blessed with five children and a thriving business on export. They were able to send all their children to the USA. Everything went well with their family life until they were beset by the strike of the employees, despite following the benefits to employees set in their employees guidelines. In view of strike, they could not deliver the orders of the clients. The daughter who was in charge of the orders, had a nervous breakdown because of this problem. She was sent to the basement of a hospital abroad.

Mon and Lina prayed with bended knees, for God to help them, that they would accept any tribulation, but please not to touch their children.

When Mon and Lina were in Manila, they got a call from an elder son, that their youngest son was in the hospital, dead at 30 because of asthma.
With no resources, they had to borrow the credit card of a daughter so that all the other members of the family could go to Mindanao, where the factory was and the other children.

In the hospital, on the bedside of her dead son, she raised her fist, raising her head, rebelling against God, saying why God had to take her son’s life.
When she looked down, what she saw (in a split second) was the face of Jesus in her son’s body. She repented and told her dead son: “go to the arms of Jesus”

From that time on, she was never afraid to die. Lina anticipates her meeting with the Lord Jesus.

Her business’ problem settled down. Lina and Mon will be back to Radio Veritas at 11:00 a.m Wednesday, Manila time. Don’t miss the continuation of their family life story!
