The Peoples' Pope, Pope Francis and the Filipinos

Image fr Yahoo PH news
Day 1 Arrival
Like Pope John Paul II, Pope Francis, was given a roaring welcome by the Filipinos. From the Villamor airport, he was welcomed by no less than the president, Benigno Aquino III, popularly known as P-noy, and the other members of his cabinet.

Thousands of people waited for him for hours just to get a glimpse of the pope of many first. from Villamor airbase,  The people lined up expectantly and joyously, all the way the route his pope mobile would be passing by up to the papal nunciature.

The pope who is the vicar of Jesus  is lovingly called the people's pope, reaching out to all levels of society especially the poor. He goes out of his way to touch and comfort them

Unlike the other popes, he rode an open pope mobile together with Cardinal Antonio "Chito" Tagle. This  is considered by the government officials on  security a nightmare.

Day 2, Call on the President, Mass at Manila Cathedral, then meeting the families at the Mall of Asia
.
At Malacanang Palace, He called on political leaders  for honesty, integrity and commitment to the common good, to bring about justice, solidarity and peace   in the country.

Day 3, Tacloban
Despite of a typhoon warning, the Pope and his entourage went ahead and flew to Tacloban.

There were 150,000 people already converged near the airport, since the night before, wet  and cold because of the drizzle. But it did not deter them from waiting for the Pope.

The mass was presided by the Pope, but was shortened because of the typhoon threat, and headed back to Manila in the afternoon.

Day 4, Mass at the University of Santo Tomas attended by
30, 000 young people, then Mass at Quirino Grandstand

Glyzelle  Iris Palomar,  a 12-year old girl abandoned by parents asked the Pontiff: "Many children are abandoned by their parents.
Many of them became victims and bad things have happened to them, like drug addiction and prostitution. Why does God allow this to happen, even if the children are not at fault? Why is it that only a few people help us?"

She was not able  to finish her prepared welcome because
she cried. .The Pope hugged her to console her.

Pope Francis also said that women see things   at different
angle, asked the tough question like that of  Iris'.

The Mass at Quirino Grandstand drew a crowd at an
estimated
number of  6 to 7M, so far the largest
crowd in the papal history. The crowd  went there as
early as dawn, in raincoats because of  the downpour,]
did not
mind the long wait.
An excerpt of his message:

Truth and justice, care for the environment,
the human family

"God chose and blessed us for a purpose: to be holy and
blameless in his sight (Eph 1:4). He chose us, each of us to
be witnesses of his truth and his justice in this world. He
created the world as a beautiful garden and asked us to
care for it," Pope Francis said at the Quirino Grandstand.
"But through sin, man has disfigured that natural beauty;
through sin, man has also destroyed the unity and beauty
of our human family, creating social structures which

perpetuate poverty, ignorance and corruption," he added.

Pope warns Philippines to end corruption

_____________________________

I myself was in tears when Pope Francis arrived.
I felt the Filipino people's hope for a better

Philippines when he called for elimination
of corruption  in the government which will
redound to the betterment of the poor.

Couldn't the typhoon, Amang" which visited
Tacloban, the perfect opportunity to
demonstrate the power of the name  of Jesus.
With the members of the clergy , the crowd of

150,000, that is the best time to show our faith
on the omnipotence of God.
Luke 17:5-6

The Power of Faith

5The apostles said to the Lord,
="Increase our faith!"
6And the Lord said, "If you had
faith like a mustard seed,
you would say to this mulberry
tree, 'Be uprooted and be planted
in the sea'; and it would obey you
The same  goes for the Manila Quirino
Grandstand mass where the faithful
of 6-7 million  attended under the
cold drizzle.
Some indicators show that he is a
real representative of Jesus for the
Church of Christ. Will he restore the
Church to its former glory before
             Satan infiltrated the Church to
conform to his world of modernity,
setting aside God through doctrines
of men and not of God.

Constantine the Great had been persecuting the Christians to conform to their pagan worship but he saw that Christianity was growing despite the persecutions. So, to unite the empire, he compromised with them, They would not be persecuted, the Nicean council was convened where the doctrine of the Holy Trinity was born, .

  • Women praying in church without veil

1 Corinthians 11:5-6 But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying disgraces her head, for she is one and the same as the woman whose head is shaved. For if a woman does not cover her head, let her also have her hair cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her cover her head.

The Sacred Host should be received with reverence and awe by kneeling and receiving it on tongue

What happened at Quirino Grandstand, the mass lost its solemnity when people elbow each other to receive the sacred host. See picture below.

Messages of Mama Mary about the Sacred Host

"The greatest sorrow that smites My Heart, My children, is the desecration to My Son's Body" - Our Lady of the Roses, May 14, 1977

"Why must you insult My Son? Can you not bend your knees? Is He not your King?"  - Our Lady of the Roses, November 21, 1970
  • Pulpit no longer call on the congregation  to correct the erring flock
  • Approving dissolution of marriage vows for other reasons than adultery
  • Solemnizing marriage of a divorcee.
Matthew 5:32 - But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
1 Corinthians 7:39 - The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
Mark 10:12 - And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
1 Corinthians 7:11 - But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to [her] husband: and let not the husband put away [his] wife.

  • Modernizing the mass
         - Eliminating the Tridentine mass - The officiating priest used to face the altar. but now the priest turns back on the altar and face the people instead. This is desecration and gives the priest a lot of distraction from the congregation.

        - Sacred host should be  given by consecrated  hand only,
        - Women allowed to do the readings

  • Immortalizing Santa Claus- St. Nicholas never existed., He is liken to Jesus Christ having His attributes:

1. He is virtually omnipresent. He can visit hundreds of millions of homes in one night.

2. He is omniscient. He monitors each child, he is all-seeing and all-knowing, and he knows when they are bad and good. He can manufacture gifts for hundreds of millions of children, and deliver them in one night—each to the correct child.

3. He is all-good and all-just. He judges which children have shown good behavior and rewards them appropriately. Bad children are bypassed or receive a lump of coal.

4. He is eternal. (from Amazing Discoveries)

  • God hears even our thoughts, so confess directly to Him

The papacy is considering to call Vatican III. Will this correct the errors of the Church or create human doctrines concerning the current issues on birth control, homosexuality, ordaining women priest, birth control, celibacy.

Call for Moral Reformation by Fr James Reuter

Fr. James Reuter is calling for moral reformation by prayer. Let's heed his call, ask for mercy from GOD before we find ourselves the most impoverished nation in Asia. Pray!

I am a romantic myself and think romantically about being a proud filipino. But why is Reuter calling the filipinos for a " moral reformation of our nation."?? And he wrote " We will be the most corrupt nation in Asia , if not in the world (we're already ranked 11th most corrupt nation by Transparency International)".
So we must include in a description of a filipino as the most corrupt in Asia, if not in the world  .

A powerful message from Fr Reuter to all of us Filipinos. Please spread this around.

THE ONLY HOPE FOR THE PHILIPPINES
 by Father James
Reuter, S.J.
 By her own admission,
GMA (Gloria Macapagal Arroyo) rightfully assessed that over the last decades; our republic has become one of the weakest, steadily left behind by its more progressive neighbors.' Forty years ago, we were only second to Japan in economic stature, and way ahead of Singapore , Hong Kong , Malaysia , and Thailand . Today, at our present growth rate, it will take us 30 years to get to where Thailand is.
 1.. A population of 160 Million;
 2. Of those, 70 to 90 million (equivalent to our current population) will live below the poverty line;
 3. Our national debt is estimated to be at US$200B (compared to US$28B when
Marcos fled, and US$53B today);
 4. We will be competing, not against Thailand or even Vietnam , but against Bangladesh ;
 5. We will be the most corrupt nation in Asia , if not in the world (we're already ranked 11th most corrupt nation by Transparency International) ...
The signs are clear. Our nation is headed towards an irreversible path of economic decline and moral decadence. It is not for lack of effort. We've seen many men and women of integrity in and out of government,
NGOs, church groups & people's organization devote themselves to the task of nation-building, often times against insurmountable odds.
But not even two people's revolutions, bloodless as they may be, have made a dent in reversing this trend. At best, we have moved one step forward, but three steps backward.
We need a force far greater than our collective efforts, as a people, can ever hope to muster. It is time to move the battle to the spiritual realm.. It's time to claim
GOD's promise of healing of the land for His people. It's time to gather GOD's people on its knees to pray for the economic recovery and moral reformation of our nation.
Is prayer really the answer? Before you dismiss this as just another rambling of a religious fanatic, I'd like you to consider some lessons we can glean from history.
England 's ascendancy to world power was preceded by the Reformation, a spiritual revival fueled by intense prayers.
The early American settlers built the foundation that would make it the most powerful nation today - a strong faith in GOD and a
disciplinedprayer life. Throughout its history, and especially at its major turning points, waves of revival and prayer movement swept across the land.
In recent times, we see Korea as a nation experiencing revival and in the process producing the largest Christian church in the world today, led by Rev. Paul Yongi Cho. No wonder it has emerged as a strong nation when other economies around it are faltering.
Even from a purely secular viewpoint, it makes a lot of sense. For here there is genuine humbling & seeking of GOD through prayer, moral reformation necessarily follows. And this, in turn, will lead to general prosperity. YES, we believe prayer can make a difference. It's our only hope.

Today, we launch this email brigade, to inform Filipinos from all over the world to pray, as a people, for the economic recovery and moral reformation of our nation. We do not ask for much. We only ask for 5 minutes of your time in a day, to fwd this email to your close friends and relatives.

This is the kind of unity which can make a big difference. Of course, if you feel strongly, as I do, about the power of prayer, you can be more involved by starting your own prayer group or prayer center.

We have tried people power twice; in both cases, it fell short. Maybe it's time to try prayer power. GOD never fails. Is there hope? YES! We can rely on God's promise, but we have to do our part. If we humble ourselves and pray as a people, GOD will heal our land. By GOD's grace, we may yet see a better future for our children.
'If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.'(2 Chronicles 7:14).
If you care for your children and grandchildren, PLEASE pass this on. .... ...
Let's not just abandon the Philippines .
